Amgicin belongsto the group of medicines called antimetabolites. It is used alone or incombination with other medicines to treat cancer of the breast, ovary, pancreas,and lung. It may also be used to treat other kinds of cancer, as determined byyour doctor.

Amgicin interferes with thegrowth of cancer cells, which are eventually destroyed. Since the growth ofnormal cells may also be affected by the medicine, other effects will alsooccur.
