Uses
Pomalidomideis used with another medication (such as dexamethasone) to treat atype of cancer in the bone marrow (multiple myeloma). It works byslowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells.
Howto use Pomalidomide Capsule
This medication mustbe used only within the Pomalyst REMS guidelines in order to avoid any possibleexposure of an unborn baby to the drug. Consult your doctoror pharmacist for more information. See also Warning section.
Readthe Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start takingpomalidomide and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, askyour doctor or pharmacist.
Takethis medication by mouth with or without food as directed by yourdoctor, usually once daily for 21 days, then stopping the medication for 7days. This is one cycle of treatment. Continue taking the medication this wayas directed by your doctor.
Swallowthe capsules whole with water. Do not open, break, crush or chew the capsulesor handle them more than needed. If any of the powder from the capsule gets onyour skin, wash the area with soap and water.

Dizziness,confusion, tiredness, weakness, constipation, diarrhea,back/bone pain, muscle pain/cramps, nausea, vomiting, and lossof appetite may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell yourdoctor or pharmacist promptly.
Peopleusing this medication may have serious side effects. However, yourdoctor has prescribed this drug because he or she has judged that the benefitto you is greater than the risk ofside effects. Careful monitoring by yourdoctor may decrease your risk.
Tellyour doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including:numbness/tingling/swelling of the arms/legs/hands/feet, shortness of breath.
Thismedication decreases bone marrow function, an effect that may lead to a lownumber of blood cells such as red cells, white cells, and platelets.This effect can cause anemia, decrease your body's ability to fight aninfection, or cause easy bruising/bleeding. Get medical help right away if youhave any of the following symptoms: unusual tiredness, pale skin, easybruising/bleeding, signs of infection (such as fever, chills, swollenlymph nodes, persistent sore throat, cough).
Precautions
Beforetaking pomalidomide, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you areallergic to it; or to thalidomide or lenalidomide; or if youhave any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredientswhich can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacistfor more details.
